UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT PROGRAM 2008-2009 PILOT PROJECT GRANTS

IREX is pleased to announce a competition for UASP fellows to apply for grants to implement administrative and management reforms in their universities. Applicants are invited to develop 12-month administrative reform project that will be undertaken in two 6-month distinct stages. If selected for funding, fellows will receive their first tranche at the start of the project. The second tranche will be awarded on the condition of successful completion of the first project stage. Projects that do not show substantial reform will not receive the second tranche. Fellows can request from $10,000 to $25,000 for the entire project.

In the application each stage should have clearly identified benchmarks and measurable indicators of progress. The application and budget should clearly identify specific costs related to project products, such as training materials, implementation of a new management structure or new management function, or strategic process.

Eligibility Requirements
Alumni of the UASP Fellowships in University Administration are eligible to apply, regardless of when they participated in the fellowship. The pilot project grants are limited to administrative reforms in the fellows’ management field at the university they represent.

Selection
The following criteria will be evaluated:

• Importance of the project to the university
• Commitment from parties needed to execute the project, including university rector
• Feasibility of project
• Clearly identified outcomes and success indicators of each project stage (Results Framework)
• Financial soundness, including a clearly described budget with real and necessary costs
• Feasibility of timeline
• Inclusion of cost-share
• Clearly written and described proposal
• Project sustainability
